CARAE (Centre d’Accueil de Rencontre et d’Animation d’Exoudun)

The CARAE is located on the edge of the village of Exoudun in the heart of Protestant Poitou, as evidenced by the presence of numerous temples, family cemeteries, umbrella pines, etc. You are welcomed in the old village presbytery built in 1905. The association has managed the place since 1971.

Its peaceful, green setting makes CARAE an ideal place to stay.

It is a well-known place for Éclaireurs (EEUdF), youth movements, for training courses (BAFA) but also family reunions or other private events.

The building has 4 bedrooms on the first floor and 2 others on the second, as well as a dormitory, for 40 beds in total.

On the ground floor there are women's and men's toilets, an equipped community kitchen, a dining room (with crockery available) and a meeting room with fireplace (wood provided).

Self-management is in the DNA of CARAE with the possibility of external services (catering for meals for example).

Outside, you have private parking, a traditional bread oven, a small round grove, surrounded by boxwood and oaks.

6 minutes away is the village of La Mothe St Héray with a supermarket, a delicatessen, two bakeries, a pharmacy and a health center. On the main square there is also a local producers' market on Thursday morning and Friday late afternoon (vegetables, goat cheeses, crabs and fouaces). Possibility of ordering before Wednesday evening from Clic paysan, an organic and local online market (www.leclicpaysan.fr) to then collect the order during the Friday evening market (17 p.m.-19 p.m.).

CARAE is 14 km from Melle, 40 km from Poitiers and 100 km from La Rochelle. The nearest SNCF station is located in Saint-Maixent-L'Ecole, 20 minutes away.

You are 6 km from the Protestant Poitou Museum in Beaussais presenting, among other things, the history of the dragonnades of Poitou in the 17th century.

Get lost in the small paths and alleys of the village and surrounding areas to discover the Bubbling Fountain, and a little further, the villages of Bagnault and Brieuil, former bastions of the Templars. And with a little luck, in summer, you will come across goats, an emblematic animal of southern Deux-Sèvres whose cheeses are famous: Chabichou, Mothais-sur-feuille...
